GVP has come a long way over the years, but the lack of experience shows up in this album…too many cliche’s and yes he disappoints here…but the “RAJNI” factor will carry the songs and make it a hit among the masses.

Chaaral (Shreya Ghoshal & kids)

A decent song with some great piece of orchestation. Shreya Ghoshal as usual makes an everlasting impression with her charming Vocals. It is definitely a cool number and is worth listening to.

Cinema Cinema (Shankar Mahadevan)

A special song for rajni fans. A very fast number and Shankar Mahadevan does a decent job, but still the orchestration reminds you of some previous hits. Definitely the chorus reminds us of Mudhalvane song. Vaali deserves special praise for the lyrics.

Om Zaarare (Daler Mehndi,Chitra & Sadhana Sargam)

A good tune but Daler fails to impress with this one. Chitra and Sadhana Sargam do justice to this number, but it fails to make an everlasting impact. The lyrics is filled with superstar rajni’s yesteryear hit film names which might go well with superstar fans.

Perinba (Kailash Kher & Prasanna)

No big differences in this song. Hauntingly it is exactly the same as GVP’s first composition “Veyilodu Vilayadi” and the voice of Kailash Kher dosent help either. Prasanna’s voice is soothing and is of great effect. Yugabharathi’s lyrics are really the high point of this song.

Sollamma (Hariharan,Sujatha & Kids)

Really a standout number in this album. Hariharan & Sujatha just make you mesmerise while you hear this song. its refreshing and unique nature makes it stand out in this otherwise average album.

Rajster’s Verdict:

On the whole GVP has come out with a mediocre album. He has not  done something really great for  Kuselan. Why GVP??? The songs might eventually go well with superstar fans but not with music lovers. Maybe the trio of Rajni-P.Vasu-Vidyasagar might have come up with a better one. Well only time will tell…

KISMAT KONNECTION-Music Review

The moment you play the first track of this album, you start grooving . The signature tune with which the number starts, and continues to play in the backdrop throughout the track’s runtime, strikes an instant appeal with the listener. Aai Paapi (Tu Hai Meri Soniye) written with a youthful touch by Shabbir Ahmed also qualifies for the title track of Kismat Konnection and earns a lucky charm for its soundtrack, right at the beginning. Neeraj Sridhar who sung the Hare Ram (Bhool Bhulaiyaa) seems the perfect choice for Pritam…

Atif Aslam starts Bakhuda Tumhi Ho with his regular alaaps and soon takes over with his soulful singing. Alka Yagnik subsequently joins him in this romantic duet penned by Sayeed Quadri. Pritam synthesizes flute notes reminding of his treatment to Hum Jo Chalne Lage (Jab We Met). At the beginning it might feel a bit out of tune. A couple of listenings and the melody of this number simply grows on you!!!

Singer Hard Kaur who struck to fame with the number Move Your Body from Johnny Gaddaar , returns to sing a song with exactly the same title alongside Shaan, Suheil and Akriti Kakkar. This Bhangra -disco fusion, very much in the vein of Pritam’s earlier compositions again sets you to motion on the dance floor. Another version of the same track has Adeel replacing Shaan and Suheil without much audible difference.

Mohit Chauhan’s opening lines Is This Love (Kahin Na Laage) seems much like the Tumhi Ho number in Jab We Met. Nevertheless the singer from the Silk Route band sets the right mood for this mellifluous love song, very much in the ambiance of the sublime soundtrack of Jab We Met . Shreya Ghoshal’s honey-soaked vocals are tailor-made for such sweetness drenched compositions.

Guest composers Sajid-Wajid are invited for their trademark festivity bhangra composition. Soniye Ve (Dhak Dhak Dhak) is clearly a revisited version of  “Aaja Soniye” from Mujhse Shaadi Karoge right from its arrangements to the singing approach. The off-lately less heard Sonu Nigam teams up with Sunidhi Chauhan for this fun number.

The Remixes follow the originals of the album making it a whopping album of 12 songs…the remixes are done by DJ Suketo who does a decent job wid all tracks…

One of the most productive composers today, Pritam Chakraborthy, yet again comes up with a promising score. Kismat Konnection instantly connects with the listener and Pritam ensures that nothing has been left to plain luck or as they say…Kismat???
